Minister of Gender, Jean Sendeza, has emphasised the need to safeguard and advance children’s rights amid challenges induced by climate change.
Sendeza made the remarks in Lilongwe during the commemoration of the International Day of Families where she stressed the need to ensure child safety and proper care during disasters.
She further urged families to have a manageable number of children.
Smart Namagonya, the National Director for SOS Children’s Villages, said they remain committed to supporting the government in the drive.
The International Day of Families is observed annually on 15 May and this year’s theme is “Families and Climate Change.”
