President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says his government will continue promoting peace for the country’s continued development, in line with the country’s development blueprint.
Dr Chakwera made the remarks in Mzuzu during commemorations marking Umodzi Day, which seeks to promote peace and development in the country.
Dr Chakwera said his administration will continue supporting the participation of the youth in the country’s development effort.
“I have appointed Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba as Labour Minister to confirm my words that you are central in my development and as leaders of today and not tomorrow,” said Dr.Chakwera.
The President then urged all Malawians to desist from violence, describing such acts as retrogressive.
The day was celebrated under the theme ‘cultivating a culture of peace through through active youth engagement’.
