Zomba Central Hospital receives medical items worth K1.2 billion

Zomba Central Hospital has received the first consignment of antibiotics and other medical equipment worth K1.2 billion, courtesy of a consortium based in the United States of America and Malawi.

Kamuzu Chibambo, the Chairperson of a charity entity called Patriots, said through their collaboration with the donors, the country will receive 100 containers of medical supplies which will be distributed in all hospitals in the country.

“This is just the beginning, this project is covering all the central hospitals and then we will go to all the district hospitals from Chitipa to Nsanje,” Chibambo said.

Zomba Central Hospital Director, Saulos Nyirenda, commended the well-wishers for the donation.

The other organisations include Smiling Surgeons and Diaspora in North America, Embassy Leadership and staff in Washington DC, Project CURE and the American people, Rotary and Lions Clubs of Malawi and National Bank of Malawi.
