Govt Launches K1bn NGO Fund

Minister of Gender, Jean Sendeza, has urged Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to utilise the K1 billion NGO Fund for its intended purpose. The fund has been launched in Blantyre.

The launch of the fund follows the directive of President Dr Lazarus Chakwera during last year’s NGO Day that all local NGOs should be given funds to operationalise their activities.

Sendeza called on local and international NGOs to collaborate with the government in alleviating the challenges communities face.

The fund, sourced from government subventions and NGO fees, will be disbursed to local NGOs to enhance skills development and community empowerment programmes, among others.
