LCC urges contractors to produce standard work

Lilongwe City Council (LCC) has officially handed over the Area 47 Sector 3 Road and bridge building projects to Projex Group and Master Construction to start construction works.

Mayor of Lilongwe, Richard Banda, has since urged the contractors to produce standard work for the roads to be sustainable and withstand harsh weather conditions.

The mayor has since promised to put in place a tracking mechanism.

Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City West, George Zulu, says construction of the bridge and road in his area will facilitate mobility for students and deconjestion for people in Area 49, 18, 47 and other nearby locations.

The road and bridge project is set to be completed within one year at a cost of K4.7 billion.
