The Malawi Congress Party (MCP)’s Second Deputy Director of International Affairs, Chalo Mvula, has called on the nation’s youth to extend their political engagement beyond social media by registering to vote.
Mvula emphasized that while online activism is valuable, it holds little weight without action at the ballot box.
“Many young people are vocal on social media, yet their voices fail to translate into real impact because they don’t register to vote. I strongly advocate for youth participation in politics, and it’s the vote that truly counts,” said Mvula.
His remarks come as the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) launches the second phase of the voter registration exercise across 10 districts.
The exercise covers Nkhatabay, Rumphi, and Likoma in the Northern Region; Kasungu, Dowa, Mchinji, and Ntcheu in the Centre; and Zomba, Blantyre, and Thyolo in the Southern Region.
Mvula’s appeal serves as a reminder of the power of youth participation in shaping Malawi’s future through both digital and physical platforms.
