Cross border Traders Association of Malawi has lamented what it calls ‘numerous road blocks’ from Mchinji border to Lilongwe.
Speaking during an interface with trade stakeholders organized by the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry -MCCCI, president of the Association, Steve Yohane, said the numerous police stops, about 14 of them, create delays and expose traders to abuse.
He claimed that some police officers make demands outside their jurisdiction.
But a representative of the Malawi Police Service has since advised the membership of the Association to report such encounters to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
