THOUSANDS ATTEND LATE MWAMBUNGU’S BURIAL

Scores of people from all walks of life have gathered at Mwanjasi Village, Traditional Authority Kilupula in Karonga, to pay their last respect to the first Member of Parliament for Karonga North under Malawi Congress Party-MCP Nelson Mwambungu.

Born in 1930, Nelson Mwambungu died on Wednesday after a short illness.

Some Notable people present during the burial ceremony of Mwambungu.

Notable figures present at the funeral are Regional Chairperson for MCP North- North Kezzie Msukwa, Alliance for Democracy- President, Enoch Chihana, Senior Chief Kilupula, Senior Chief Kalonga, Member of Parliament for Karonga North Mungasulwa Mwambande and Board Chairperson for Northern Region Water Board Frank Mwenifumbo.

The late Mwambungu was one of the founding members of MCP alongside Orton Chirwa who fought for the freedom of this country in 1959.
