Malawi set to host ANOCA Zone VI Elective AGM

Local Organising Committee for this year’s General Assembly for 10 member states, under the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone VI, says preparations for the event are at an advanced stage with delegates expected to elect new leadership for bloc.

The elective AGM will be staged in Salima from 21 to 23 February 2025 and will bring together at least 35 delegates/sports leaders from the region.

Organising Chairperson, Denis Kumwenda, who is also the Vice Secretary General of the Malawi Olympic Committee, said the organisation serves as a catalyst for the growth of sports, supporting national Olympic Committees in their endeavours to develop athletes and promote Olympic values.

Kumwenda said the event offers an opportunity for Malawi to boost regional and global visibility, sports tourism and foreign exchange.

“We are set to host the delegates from 10 Southern African countries. All logistics are done and as a committee, we appreciate the support we have received from our partners,” said Kumwenda.

He, therefore, called on corporate entities to partner them in staging an exciting event as they aim to develop and promote sport excellence in Malawi.

Member states are Malawi, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
