Illovo hands over K100 Million to Chikwawa District Council for cyclone survivors’ housing project

Illovo Sugar Malawi has handed over a cheque of K100 million to Chikwawa District Council for the construction of houses for families whose homes were destroyed by Cyclone Freddy.

During the handover ceremony at the district council, Moses Njinga, Head of Human Resources at Illovo Sugar Malawi, announced that the funds would be used to build homes for Cyclone Freddy survivors in the area of Traditional Authority Makhuwira.

The initiative is part of the ‘Tigwirane Manja’ initiative launched by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, with former Presidents Bakili Muluzi and Joyce Banda serving as Goodwill Ambassadors for the campaign.

District Commissioner for Chikwawa, Nardin Kamba, expressed gratitude to Illovo and gave an assurance that the funds would be used for intended purpose.
