Former Silver Strikers Ladies player, Oramah Massah, who is now a soldier in the British Military since 2019, has reaffirmed her commitment to nurturing and empowering talented children from rural communities through the provision of professional sporting activities, spiritual and skills training.
Oramah, who played for Silver Strikers Ladies (formerly DD Sunshine between 2010 and 2017) and is founder of The Orah Sports Academy (TOSA) in Mchinji, said she wants to build cordial partnerships with education institutions that offer scholarships to talented children.
She was speaking at Mchinji Community Ground where she staged a tournament for Under 12 and Under 16 boys/girls football teams from The Orah Sports Academy and Lilongwe-based Mpira Mmudzi Mmodzi.
National Women’s Football Association Chairperson, Adella Migogo, admitted that there are a lot of talented players in rural areas but lack of proper facilities and financial constraints thwart their dreams.
“I’ve seen a 12-year-old girl, a seven-year-old boy, playing football. It shows that there’s a lot of potential in grassroots. It needs more support from us and it really gives us an encouragement that there is potential in small kids, in small girls and in small boys,” said Migogo, who represented Football Association of Malawi President Fleetwood Haiya,
The Orah Sports Academy was formed in 2019 and was officially launched in January 2020.
