Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Madalitso Kazombo, has asked chiefs, parents and guardians to guard against child marriages, especially in rural communities.
Kazombo said marrying off children does not only rob them of their future but also plunges the communities deep into the dungeon of poverty as more girls drop out of school.
He said this at Chamama Primary School in Kasungu District during activities commemorating 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
