CHILIMA FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has called on stakeholders to invest green skills in the youth if Malawi is to achieve meaningful and sustainable development.

Dr Chilima was speaking at Mzuzu Stadium during the commemoration of the 2023 International Youth Day in Malawi. He then urged youth-centred institutions to invest green skills in the youth for a meaningful Malawi 2063.

“The vision is youth-centred and there is a need to equip them with various production skills, create an enabling environment for business and networking and involve them in decision-making processes,” said Dr Chilima.

Minister of Youth, Uchizi Mkandawire, said there is a need for more collaboration in youth empowerment so that the youth can
access quality skills education and soft loans to enable them to venture into businesses that will help to propel the country’s economy.

The youth showcased various skills in soap production, briquettes manufacturing and ICT and how the same can support the socio-economic development of the country.
