Only six out of the 16 Super League teams in the country are honouring the National Football Coaches Association(NFCA)’s K750,000 monthly minimum wage benchmark.
These include FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Silver Strikers and Creck Sporting Club.
Davie Mpima, General Secretary for NFCA, revealed that community and personally-owned teams are struggling to meet the wage requirement.
He, however, declined to disclose the names of the struggling teams, citing ongoing discussions to bring them in line with the wage standards.
Expatriates Kalisto Pasuwa of Bullets, Nswazurimo Ramadan of Wanderers, and Silver coach Peter Mponda are among the coaches receiving higher entitlements, with their salaries reportedly exceeding K1 million per month.
