National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has supported the establishment of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) Endowment Fund with K150 million.
The endowment fund is meant to support student scholarships, research and innovations among others.
Speaking during the official signing of the agreement between the two institutions, NBM Chief Executive Officer Harold Jiya said supporting the MUBAS Endowment Fund affirms their commitment to developing a Malawi where opportunities are not defined by circumstance, but by potential.
“This partnership reflects our belief that education is the foundation upon which innovation, economic growth, and social progress are built,” Jiya said.
On her part, Mubas Vice Chancellor Nancy Chitera expressed gratitude to the financial institution describing the support as crucial not only to the education facility but the country at large.
“This is a vote of confidence for us that the direction that we have taken is the right direction because K150 million is a lot of money and for the bank to come with that money it means that they believe in what we have embarked on,” Chitera said.
