Treasury takes digital financial services campaign to Rumphi

Ministry of Finance has made strides in promoting financial inclusion among marginalised groups in various districts, Team Leader for the Digital Finance Services campaign, Paul Nthala, has confirmed.

Nthala made the remarks during the launch of the campaign at Mhuju in Rumphi District.

The campaign is financially backed by African Development Bank and aims to increase access to digital financial services and it has targeted women, youth and people with disabilities, who have historically been excluded from formal financial services.

A trader with disabilities at Mhuju in the district, Moffart Phiri, described Digital Finance as secure, reliable and convenient to people with disabilities in the country.

Phiri added that he was once robbed of his cash because people took advantage of his disability.

The campaign started in July this year and is in phase four in other districts. It is also targeting districts such as Rumphi and Phalombe.
