Jordan Kowet from Southend Primary School in Blantyre is the winner of this year’s St Patrick’s International Primary School’s Mental Maths Competition.
The annual contest involves year five and six primary school learners from St Patrick’s International, South End, St Andrews International, and Nyasa Junior Academy.
Each of the four schools was represented by its top-notch 8, making it a battle of 32 learners.
After tussling in all the rounds, the battle line was drawn between Wayne Chipungu and Jordan Kowet, all from South End Primary.
But as is the case with any contest, there must only be one winner and indeed It was Jordan Kowet being crowned the winner.
“Many thanks to my teachers, parents, and friends for trusting in me,” he said.
Headteacher for St. Patrick’s International Primary School, Niall Dorey, said mental maths is a neglected area in many learners and therefore engaging them at a tender age invigorates their thinking prowess.
Each contestant received a certificate and a medal.
