Tributes continue to pour in for Dolly Parton, the American singer, songwriter and entertainer who has died at the age of 80 after battling cancer.
MBC’s Radio 2 FM DJ Kingsley Mtila says Malawians will always remember the late Dolly Parton because she was a super star who dedicated her life to music.
“Dolly Parton is an icon who has produced 49 albums and in addition to that she also worked as an actress,” Mtila said.
Veteran broadcaster and music enthusiast, Deus Sandram, said the late artist had a unique talent and her music gives hope to people who are going through problems in life.
“Her music will continue to live on because it is unique and it offers hope” said Sandram.
Nation Publication Entertainment reporter, Brian Itaye, described her as an exceptional artist who influenced many artists.
“We will greatly miss Dolly Parton because she was blessed with music talent, her approach and delivery of music was out of this world,” said Itaye.
During her lifetime Parton wrote hundreds of songs, including classics like “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You,” all totaled more than 100 million worldwide sales and more than 1 billion online streams.
A few days ago, Parton spoke publicly about her health but said this will not affect the new projects she was working on.
