Mangochi Police hunts counterfeit

Police in Mangochi have launched a crackdown on counterfeit cement in a move to ensure public safety and protect consumers.

Mangochi Police Station Officer-In-Charge, Morgan Dzonzi, said the operation follows complaints from those who fell victim to the scam.

“We received reports that some traders are mixing original cement with quarry dust and repacking it to maximize profits while duping consumers,” said Dzonzi.

Dzonzi said seven vendors have been arrested in the operation and 38 bags of counterfeit cement were seized.
