The Malawi Police Service says it has tightened security measures during the Easter holiday.
In a statement issued by National Police publicist Peter Kalaya, the police say they are committed to ensuring the protection of life and property.
Kalaya stated that police officers have been deployed to various areas to address any potential issues.
Additionally, Kalaya said that the police will set up ad-hoc roadblocks on different roads throughout the country.
Regarding road safety, he said breathalysers will be used to detect drink-driving cases and speed guns will be employed to prevent speeding.
In 2023, the Malawi Police recorded 56 accidents during the Easter period, resulting in 11 fatalities.
