Malawi Beach Soccer takes on Burundi

Coach Willy Kumilambe has announced a 12-man squad for the Malawi Beach Soccer team to face Burundi in a qualifying match for the 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON, which will be held in Egypt.

The squad consists of:

* Goalkeepers: Mussa Haji and Eddie Jamu
* Defenders: Sandram Saddie, Martin Biliati, and Mike Chavula
* Midfielders: Dala Simba, Isaac Kajamu, Thoko Kamanga, and Frank Mwenelupembe
* Strikers: Obrien Nkhumbula, Allan Mtawali, and Ashraf Saidi

According to the Football Association of Malawi, the team arrived in Burundi on Sunday after facing logistical challenges that prevented their travel on Tuesday last week.

Consequently, the hosts rescheduled the match to today, Monday.

On Saturday, July 28, 2024, Malawi will play their second leg against Burundi at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima.

Malawi last qualified for the 2022 Beach Soccer AFCON in Mozambique, where they finished sixth after losing on penalties to Uganda in the 5th and 6th place classification.
