Malawi, Vietnam in diplomatic relations

Malawi has signed a diplomatic agreement with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in New York, USA on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) where President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is in attendance.

The agreement is aimed at promoting and strengthening relations and cooperation in political, economic, social and humanitarian fields.

Permanent representatives of Malawi and Vietnam to the UN, Agnes Chimbiri-Molande and Dang Hoang Giang, signed the diplomatic documents.

The countries’ ministers of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo and Bui Thang Son, witnessed the signing ceremony.

Tembo acknowledged the significance of the agreement citing it will lay a foundation for closer collaboration and partnerships in various developmental areas of mutual benefit.
