Chinese Government, through the China Aid Agricultural Technical Cooperation project, has handed over the third phase of agricultural machinery and facilities to the Malawi Government.
The donation is meant to enhance agricultural technology, boost crop yields and improve employment and income for farmers.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lilongwe, Counselor in Charge of Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy, Zhang Chunfa, reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening Malawi’s food security and advancing agricultural commercialisation.
Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale, expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government, stating that the support will facilitate technical expertise in crop production and bolster the Mega Farm Support Unit.
The donation includes 10 greenhouses, agricultural machinery and equipment, laboratory facilities among others.
