Police sweep results in arrest of 22 individuals

As part of their efforts to ensure a crime-free environment in Balaka District, Balaka Police Station conducted an operation that led to the arrest of 22 individuals, believed to have committed various offences.

The operation was done overnight from April 7 to April 8, 2024 in Khwisa, Sosola, Toleza, Mbela, Kankao and other areas surrounding Balaka Township.

During the operation, five individuals; Biton Bwenzilamphasa, 21, Black Scotch, 40, Yakobe Tamaona, 25, Kondwani Makala, and Lameck Jussa were arrested for robbery with violence. They have been identified as

Mphatso Munthali, Deputy publicist for Balaka Police, said that the remaining suspects will face charges related to housebreaking, theft, escaping from lawful custody, trace passing, and malicious damage.

The suspects, within the age range of 17 to 42, will soon appear in court to face the charges against them.
