Dedza Police For Safe Schools

Police in Dedza have teamed up with various schools to set up suggestion boxes in each school, with a view of addressing cases of child abuse.

Maxwell Chimphonda, the Coordinator for Dedza Community Policing, said that the initiative falls under the ‘Safe School Programme’ designed to combat Gender-Based Violence and foster a secure learning environment for all students.

Chimphonda urged school committees to strategically place the boxes where students feel comfortable sharing their concerns.

Ronald Solomon, Headteacher at Milonde 2 Primary School, praised the initiative, highlighting its alignment with ongoing efforts to safeguard children’s rights.

Recent police reports have exposed instances of physical abuse among learners, including bullying and excessive punishment, among others.
