Malawi Paralympic Committee has launched its training centre at Area 10 in Lilongwe where athletes will be camping for practice when preparing for tournaments.
Speaking at the launch, vice president of the Malawi National Council of Sports, Charles Ulaya Banda, applauded Malawi Paralympic Committee for working hard to establish the partnership with the project sponsors, K2 Transformers.
“This is indeed a milestone and it should be an example to other associations that are operating without a clear vision of where they are going,” said Banda.
President for Malawi Paralympic Committee, James Chiutsi, said the training centre will go a long way in equiping the athletes for tournaments.
Kim Taeyong, who is the Chief Executive officer for K2 Transformers, said the sponsorship is in line with his vision, which is to see local athletes become self sufficient through the sport.
The centre has training equipment, boarding rooms for athletes, a library and offices for the officials.
