Community mourns late Shanil Dzimbiri

Chairperson for Chanthunya Area Development Committee (ADC), Emmanuel Kalombe, has described former First Lady, late Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri as a true daughter of the land.

“I have directly worked with her when she was the Member of Parliament at ADC level, I tell you, she was so cautious about developing her area, we have lost a beacon of peace and development,” he adds.

He says they will live to remember her legacy.

“We first saw electricity in this area through her when she was the First Lady, she also made sure that education levels in this area improve by constructing so many school blocks, which has eased pupils’ welfare in this area.

“We used to gather here every morning asking for help, even when she went to Lilongwe for work, people were still coming and [got] assisted, we will greatly miss her,” Kalombe points out.

Dr Dzimbiri died on Monday together with the country’s Vice President, Dr Saulos Chilima, and seven others in a plane crash in Chikangawa Forest and is expected to be buried today at her home village Mfulanjobvu in Balaka.
