China/Malawi sign MK 50bn judicial complex grant agreement

China is to provide Malawi with over K50 billion for the construction of a Judicial complex in Lilongwe.

The grant agreement was signed in Beijing China by Malawi Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Simplex Chithyola and Chinese Ambassador to Malawi Long Zhou.

Chithyola Banda said following the signing of the agreement, officials of the two governments will now work to expedite the disbursement of the funding.

The grant signing is part of activities taking place ahead of the official opening of the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation which starts on Thursday morning.

Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera will attend the summit. He has already held bilateral talks with China’s President Xi Jinping.
