Political analysts have praised President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s Wednesday’s national address, describing it as a genuine acknowledgement of the challenges Malawians are facing.
They highlighted the clarity of the proposed solutions and the emphasis on unity in overcoming these difficulties.
Civil rights activist Undule Mwakasungula, for instance, applauded the President for recognising critical issues such as fuel shortages, hunger, and economic hardships.
He further commended the introduction of additional austerity measures aimed at controlling public expenditure and stabilising the economy, noting their timeliness and the inclusion of clear monitoring mechanisms to ensure tangible outcomes.
Mwakasungula also highlighted President Chakwera’s proposed transition from an Open Tender System to a Government-to-Government arrangement for fuel procurement.
He observed that this approach promises more secure access to fuel, underpinned by improved payment terms and cycles.
Similarly, political analyst Aurthur Mkumbwa called on all stakeholders to collaborate with the president in ensuring that the proposed solutions translate into meaningful results.
Another analyst, Tiyane Nyirenda, commended Dr Chakwera’s commitment to addressing the country’s challenges, urging a continued focus on implementing sustainable solutions.
