MTF Academy can market Malawi arts, film industry – – – Katanda

Arts enthusiast Herbert Katanda believes that Malawian graduates at the 2024 MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) Academy are better placed to market local arts and film industry overseas.

Three Malawians, Beatus Msamange, Faith Msole and Memory Phiri have just graduated at the MTF Academy in Lusaka, Zambia where they underwent Film and TV training.

Katanda said most artists in the country lack professionalism despite possessing talent.

One of the graduants, Msamange, has been awarded a two-week scholarship to study at Zee World in India.

Since MTF’s inception, Malawian graduates have left a mark in the industry due to the expertise solicited at the programme.

For example, Chimwemwe Mkwezalamba founded ‘Kwacha Creative Studios’ to tackle youth unemployment.

Jonathan Kapumba, another product of the academy, took part in the production of a short movie called ‘Liberator’ and another one, Brian Magombo got nominated as Director of Photography at the 2024 AMAA Awards for his contributions on the movie ‘Strike a Blow and Die’.
