FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Coach, Calisto Pasuwa, has assured fans that his team will not underestimate Silver Strikers in the Airtel Top 8 Final.
He said his players will enter Saturday’s match at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe with the right mindset to secure a positive result.
Pasuwa mentioned that he has been working with his team to correct past mistakes and praised Silver Strikers for their strong domestic performance.
“Silver Strikers are doing well, and we’re not underestimating them,” he said.
Silver Strikers’ coach, Peter Mponda, expressed gratitude for reaching the final and highlighted his aim to break Bullets’ defence, noting that his team has scored seven goals and conceded twice, while Bullets have scored only four but kept a clean sheet.
Mponda acknowledged feeling some pressure in his first year as head coach.
Sports analyst, Henry Gome, has predicted a thrilling final , pointing out that Silver Strikers have one remaining cup to compete for, while Bullets, as defending champions, will be keen to retain their title.
Gome advised Pasuwa to monitor players like Chinsinsi Maonga, Binwell Katinji, Chikondi Kamanga and Chimwemwe Idana, while urging Mponda to focus on neutralising Bullets’ key players, including Babatunde Adepoje, Chikumbutso Salima, Ephraim Kondowe and defender Alick Lungu.
In their last encounter in 2017, Bullets emerged victorious 10-9 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regular time.
Before last season, both teams’ coaches were in the same camp with Pasuwa as head coach and Mponda his vice.
Just recently, the Football Association of Malawi appointed the duo to assist coaching the Flames.
