Following the delinking of public colleges from the University of Malawi, Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) will hold its first independent graduation ceremony today under the new public university structure.
Previously known as College of Medicine, KUHeS’s first congregation follows that of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences — formerly The Polytechnic, which hosted its inaugural independent graduation earlier this year.
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is also expected to be inaugurated as the first Chancellor of the university.
Government delinked the public colleges in a bid to make them more self reliant and innovative.
The delinking came after then Bunda College of Agriculture, now LUANAR, successfully managed to navigate its independence.
