Govt calls for multi-sectoral approach in scaling up clean energy

Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola has called for a collaborative approach in addressing challenges stemming from lack of clean energy for cooking faced by many countries.

Matola made the remarks in Paris, France during the Clean Cooking in Africa summit.

“The use of biomass for cooking leads to poorly prepared meals which can create new health issues for patients, inhumane conditions for prisoners, and inadequate nutrition for students,” Matola said.

Matola further highlighted how women and girls bear the burden of having to wake up before dawn to travel miles in to collect firewood for cooking.
