Lilongwe Magistrate’s Court has heard more evidence in the murder case involving Amos and Egnat Katengeza, who are accused of killing their sister, Agnes Katengeza.
Today, the State paraded its fourth witness, Chifundo Kadepo, a businessman based at Blantyre Market, who told the court that he bought an iPhone 13 from Amos Katengeza in 2023.
Kadepo said Amos offered him the phone several times before he eventually bought it for K500,000.
He identified the iPhone 13 produced in court as the same device he had been offered by Amos.
The court also heard testimony from the State’s fifth witness, Frank Matchola, a 30-year-old network engineer at Airtel Malawi.
Matchola told the court that he had known Amos Katengeza since 2015 through a mutual friend.
He said Amos later requested to stay at his house in Blantyre temporarily while he looked for accommodation, a request he accepted.
The witness told the court that during his stay, Amos was involved in buying and selling mobile phones and had plans to open a shop.
Matchola further testified that he later received a call from a neighbour informing him that Amos had been arrested.
He identified an iPod and a laptop presented before the court, saying the devices belonged to Amos and that he had seen him using them while staying at his house in Blantyre.
The court has since adjourned proceedings to 2PM.
