World Vision seeks partnership in ECD

World Vision has stressed the need for a collective approach in supporting Early Childhood Development (ECD).

World Vision Director of Advocacy and Communications, Charles Gwengwe, made these remarks in Lilongwe.

He said ECD requires specialised services to help children become reliable citizens.

Gwengwe said through their “Enough” campaign, which is focused on caring for vulnerable children, they will continue to raise awareness and funds to combat child hunger and malnutrition as well as ECD-related programmes.

According to him, the organisation shall continue working with local communities, the government and other partners to implement its programmes and advocate for policies that can benefit vulnerable children in Malawi.

A survey by the Ministry of Education indicates that in 2023, only 34 percent of children attended ECD education programmes and a mere 19 percent demonstrated foundational reading skills.
