World Vision Malawi donates school desks

World Vision Malawi representatives have said the aim of the organisation is to motivate learners to remain in school hence their donation of school desks worth K90 million to two schools in Mzimba District.

The donation is under the organisation’s philanthropic programme ‘Give in Kind’ and the items were handed over at Bwengu Primary School.

World Vision Malawi Programme Manager for Nkhatabay and Mzimba, Limbani Gondwe Kumpolota, said they hope to see an increase in girls enrollment and concentration levels while in class.

“Mostly we want to promote literacy and ensure that children have access to education in the country,” said Kumpolota.

Chief Education Officer for Mzimba North, Jessy Kapombe, hailed the organisation for the support and appealed to other well-wishers to help in supporting education in the country.

Bwengu Primary School Headteacher, Eric Munthali, said the school, which has 627 pupils, had 50 desks only; a development he said made learning difficult, especially during the rainy season.
