People’s Republic of China President, Xi JinPing, says there is a need to ensure his country and African nations, who have one third of the world’s population, are assisted to embrace modernisation.
He has since pledged China’s support towards various sectors in Africa over the next three years.
He said this at the start of the 2023 summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) where President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is in attendance, along with several heads of state from African countries.
The summit is being held under the theme ‘Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future’.
The heads of state are expected to receive and approve recommendations from a ministerial conference held on Wednesday.
President Chakwera is also scheduled to attend other high-level meetings this afternoon.
