Women in Chitipa cheer patients with Christmas donation

Chitipa Women of Substance ( CP-WS), a grouping of women working in the civil service, on Saturday donated assorted groceries to the maternity and paediatric wards at Chitipa District Hospital as part of Christmas celebrations.

“We hope the gifts we have donated will ease emotional and physical challenges to patients, especially those that have stayed long in the hospital and those that do not have relatives,” chairperson Suten Mwangomba said.

Chitipa District Hospital Nursing Officer, Grace Gollen, thanked the group for the donation, which she said will ease some of the challenges patients and guardians are facing.

Efrida Musukwa, a patient in the maternity ward and a new mother to a baby boy, thanked  Chitipa Women of Substance for the gesture.

The assorted groceries include packets of sugar, salt and soap. The funds have been sourced through fundraising and contributions amongst the members.
