Author Bridget Jumbe has urged Malawians to embrace a reading culture as a means of fostering knowledge growth in various aspects of environmental conservation and development. Speaking during the launch of her book “Nature: Our Teacher” in Lilongwe, Jumbe emphasised that the book is instrumental in nurturing a spirit of environmental restoration among Malawians.
“Nature: Our Teacher” explores how nature plays a key role in teaching life lessons, illustrating how people can thrive through challenging times by coexisting harmoniously with the natural environment. Beyond conserving and restoring nature, the book also envisions how being surrounded by nature can help shape positive mindsets among Malawians.
Presiding over the event, Patricia Mwase, called on fellow women to collaborate in advancing environmental conservation efforts across the country. She further encouraged Malawians to apply the knowledge shared in the book to promote environmentally friendly initiatives.
In his remarks, Archbishop George Tambala, hailed the book noting that its publication comes at an opportune time when Malawi is intensifying environmental restoration activities. He added that the book is crucial in integrating such initiatives nationwide.
The event also marked the launch of BMJ Publishers, a publishing entity dedicated to promoting electronic publications, an initiative that aligns with the drive towards environmentally friendly practices.
