In preparation for the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Sports Festival scheduled for May, Moyale Barracks sports teams have dominated a tournament organised by the 101 Brigade by winning all the trophies at stake.
The competition was held in Mzuzu, and it aimed to identify teams that will represent the brigade, which comprises Moyale and Chilumba Barracks, at the national event.
Lieutenant Colonel John Singini, expressed his satisfaction with the level of performance, physicality, and discipline displayed throughout the tournament.
“We have seen that 101 Brigade possesses massive talent in football, netball, volleyball, and other sports disciplines. This inter-unit tournament has given us a clear picture of how prepared the brigade is ahead of the forthcoming MDF games in Salima,” said Singini.
Soldiers from Moyale and Chilumba Barracks competed in various disciplines including tug of war, basketball, football, netball, darts, and volleyball, with Moyale emerging victorious in all categories.
Patrick Dzanja from Chibuku Products, speaking on behalf of all sponsors, including MASM and Saile Financial Services, emphasized the strong corporate relationship that exists between the military and the business community.
