President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has stressed the need for the church to continue working closely with the government for the betterment of the country.
Dr. Chakwera was speaking when he attended a service of worship at Lingadzi CCAP Church of the Nkhoma Synod at Area 12 in Lilongwe.
He hailed the church for its continued support in praying for the nation.
“There are a lot of people who are praying for this nation so that Malawi remains strong and focused regardless of the many challenges the country is facing,” Dr. Chakwera said.
The Malawi leader also praised the church for having strategic plans for its growth, which can also contribute to the development of the country.
In his remarks, the session clerk for the church, Professor Sam Phiri, hailed the President for attending the prayers at Lingadzi CCAP Church of the Nkhoma Synod.
Resident Minister for Lingadzi CCAP, Reverand Davie Franklin Salimoni, who had a sermon titled ‘Be a brother’s keeper’ hailed the President for sparing his time to attend prayers at the church.
He also commended the President for leading the nation in prayers on July 6 during Malawi’s commemoration of 60 years of independence.
He stated that the church will continue praying for the country and the President.
Lingadzi CCAP in Area 12 was established in 1974 and currently has over 3,000 congregants. The President has also donated K3 million towards development projects being undertaken by the church.
