Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu says a team of experts from Germany will arrive in the country this Saturday to investigate the plane crash that claimed the lives of nine people, including late Dr Saulos Chilima who was the country’s Vice President.
In an interview, Kunkuyu said President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has directed that the team be granted unhindered access to all documents and places, including the scene of the accident, the wreckage, medical reports and should also be allowed to interview anyone they want.
The team’s arrival follows Dr. Chakwera’s directive that the plane crash be investigated.
Government of Malawi appealed to countries such as the United Kingdom, USA and Germany to help with expertise in investigating the plane crash.
Meanwhile, Kunkuyu says President Chakwera has directed that this year’s Independence Celebration should be marked by prayers without celebratory activities as the country is still mourning the death of Vice President.
