Exactly a year after Cyclone Freddy made landfall in Malawi, former president Dr Joyce Banda says President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s decision to appoint her and former president Dr Bakili Muluzi as Goodwill Ambassadors for the disaster recovery was crucial in alleviating the challenges which people who were hit by the cyclone are facing.
Dr. Banda says through the initiative, the two former presidents have managed to mobilize relief items and construct new homes for a considerable number of people who were displaced by the disaster.
