Member of Parliament for Ntcheu North, Lymon Zimphondo has voiced his concern over the rise in suicide cases calling on churches to collaborate with the government in tackling the retrogressive trend.
Zimphondo made the appeal during an end-of-year Men’s Guild meeting at Mlanda CCAP Church.
Reverend Livingstone Stima, Moderator of the Mlanda Presbytery, reaffirmed Nkhoma Synod’s commitment, through its prayer houses, to spreading the gospel and helping people resist the temptation of suicide. He further observed that the synod had been asked to observe fasting and prayer, seeking divine intervention in the recent surge in road accidents and plane crashes.
Traditional Authority Masasa of Ntcheu, who also attended the Men’s Guild gathering, commended the participants for strengthening their faith in God.
The three-day event drew over a thousand men from Ntcheu and Dedza, under the Mlanda Presbytery of Nkhoma Synod.
The meeting was held under the theme, “Creating Vision to Enhance Spiritual Well-being of the Family.”
