The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC)’s Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, says all is set for the announcement of official results for the Local Government by-elections of the three wards in Karonga District at noon.
The exercise is going to take place at Maghemo Secondary School where the National Tally Centre has been set up.
Mwafulirwa said receiving of votes from the three nerve centres has been completed.
Unofficial results indicate that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has won all three seats.
Unofficially, Kaporo Ward has been won by King Ngayambimba Mvula, Chilanga Ward has gone to Alick Ng’oma, and Gift Kumbukani Mwale is set to be the new councillor for Rukuru ward.
Meanwhile, security is tight at the National Tally Centre.
