The Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda has called on the Judiciary to professionally handle all pending land-related cases with speed.
Mzikamanda made the call in Salima during the official opening of a judges’ retreat on new land-related laws, organised by the Ministry of Lands.
“As our Constitutional mandate, the Judiciary will enforce all new land-related laws in an independent and impartial manner,” said Mzikamanda.
And Minister of Lands, Deus Gumba, said the passing of the new land-related laws by Parliament signalled a new chapter on land governance.
“The Judiciary is crucial in the implementation of the new land laws hence the retreat and the passing of the new land laws necessitated government to start putting in place critical structures like customary land tribunals,” said Gumba.
