The Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Malawi Rural Electrification Project (MAREP) Phase 9.
After touring several installation sites in Nkhotakota, Nkhatabay, Mzimba, and Rumphi, Matola commended the efforts of local contractors.
Matola highlighted his delight in seeing Malawian contractors performing exceptionally well despite the natural setbacks affecting the project.
Currently, MAREP Phase 9 is at the transformer installation stage, with 200KV transformers being installed at each site.
This phase aims to connect some of the most remote areas in Malawi to electricity.
