Minister of Trade, Sosten Gwengwe, says the Grants Programme, which is set to offer financial support to Micro, Small Medium Enterprises (MSME), will promote economic development and strengthen business ties between Mozambique and Malawi.
Gwengwe made the remarks during the launch of the pogramme, held in Lilongwe.
Grants Programme is a segment of the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Programme (SATCP) project, set to offer financial support to beneficiaries in 15 districts that are connected to the Nacala and Beira corridor.
CCM Worldwide are in charge of managing the grants. Their Team Leader, Bronex Kathyola, urged interested enterprises to apply for the financial support, saying the selection of enterprises will follow set procedures to ensure integrity in choosing eligible enterprises.
Over K10 billion was allocated to the programme which will see medium and large enterprises get over K800 million while micro and small enterprises will access over K40 million under the Business Plan Competition Grants.
Overall, over 90 enterprises will benefit and they will be identified through competitive processes where enterprises will apply and eligible companies will be granted the support.
