Community Manager for Mamaland Company, Andrew Goodman, has unveiled a 30-year project in Nkhata Bay called Mountain recovery systems, aimed at restoring and protecting forest reserves in Nkhata Bay and the country at large.
Goodman said the project will focus on forest conservation, afforestation and reforestation while improving the livelihoods of local communities that live in and round forest reserves.
According to Goodman, the project’s total cost is K346, 889, 567, 400 which will be spread across all regions in Malawi.
District Commissioner for Nkhata Bay, Rodgers Newa, said the project aligns well with the district plans of enviromnetal conservation and encouraged youths to take charge and lead in its implementation to create a sustainable and prosperous future for Nkhata Bay and Malawi as whole.
The forest reserves under the project’s scope include South Viphya, Dwambazi, Dzalanyama, Michiru and Chimaliro.
