Social commentators are appealing to both the public and the Malawi government to consider providing financial support to people with dwarfism, saying they are often neglected.
Recently, Estern Chagoma, the President of Persons with Dwarfism, expressed his frustration with local banks for failing to provide them with loans, despite making promises to do so.
Chagoma said people with dwarfism deserve to access the same services as everyone else.
Social commentator Lucky Mbewe called for a change in mindset and greater cooperation with people with dwarfism, noting that banks rarely offer them assistance with loans.
Another commentator, Francis Liyati, said parliamentarians should play a role in creating legal provisions that are more favorable to people with Dwarfism.
